THE SHEDIT METHOD

We want to provide our members with the opportunity to open their minds and incorporate all ranges of training models into their experience. 

In doing so our community remains curious and passionate about their own health without restrictions. We believe optimal health requires a strong foundation built on 4 main principles, all with equal importance.

MIND

Our mind affects how we think, feel and act. Both our mental and physical health co-exist; when one suffers so does the other. Understanding our mind, and developing the ability to work with it, not against it is one of the most important things you can do for overall health and improving your experiences in life.

MOVEMENT

Our bodies are built for movement, sounds simple right? and yet how often in our sedentary lifestyles do we use our bodies to their full potential? We should all be capable of efficient movement in any of the 8 archetypes (Press & overhead press, hang, front rack, squat, hinge, lunge, pistol). These Functional movements stimulate all major muscle groups in your body, and are all important in creating a balanced program and avoiding deficiencies.

MOBILITY

Mobility is essential in performing efficient functional movements. It's all about quality - enabling each joint and muscle to be mobile enough to support itself through all ranges of motion, without restrictions. Being 'fit' is not all about losing calories and a six pack, it's also about increasing our capacity to perform all tasks and move with less effort and tension. Allowing us to stay independent longer, and get more out of our life.

NUTRITION

As Ann Wigmore said “The food you eat can be either the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison”. Understanding our relationship with food is crucial in meeting our performance goals, reducing risks of chronic disease, and preserving the longevity of optimal health.

THE SHEDIT ESSENTIALS CLASS

OUR CORE CLASS - SUITABLE FOR ALL FITNESS LEVELS

Focused on Quality & Functional Movement, our ShedIT Essentials class combines a full range of training methods, giving you the tools to build a strong foundation, challenge yourself & see results.

Class programs are unique & updated daily by your experienced head coach & owner Kurt so you'll never be bored. Every program encapsulates our integrated approach focusing on 6 main training methods:

METCON

 Metabolic conditioning is the combination of traditional cardio exercises with weights, giving you a full-body High-intensity workout.

Burning calories fast,  improving muscular endurance and increasing overall fitness capacity.

SKILLS

Our skill pieces are essential in learning new movements and perfecting technique for exercises required within a workout. This allows for an inclusive environment within our classes where all members can learn or refine things such as rope climbs or handstand walks.

STRENGTH

Strength training is a combination of exercises from specific movement categories such as squats and deadlifts, with the aim to increase muscle strength and endurance, develop better body mechanics and increase lean muscle.

ACCESSORIES

Accessories are designed to compliment & assist with our primary or major movement within a program. Generally used to help to improve stability and control, an example would be glute activation exercises (e.g. monster walks) to help with squats.

MOBILITY

Mobility is more than just stretching, and can come in a variety of movements & positions. It's essential in increasing your range of motion which will allow you to move and train better, in turn increasing your results and preventing injury.

HIIT

High-Intensity Interval Training is designed to combine short periods of intense anaerobic exercise with less-intense recovery periods. Generally around 15-20 mins of hard work, it's a quick way to boost your cardio capacity and burn calories.

Using these techniques provides a structure that allows progression across your entire body, building versatility, reducing injury risk and increasing your performance to achieve your goals.

ABOUT US

ShedIT Fitness is a functional fitness gym based in Baringa on the Sunshine Coast. We started ShedIT with the goal of educating our members to have an integrated and holistic approach to their health and fitness, particularly regarding individual performance and longevity.

 

With a hands-on approach in each class, your experienced, certified coach is able to tailor workouts for all levels of fitness.
